PE SECTION

OF YOUR BINDER

1.     To get to Mr. Gable's web site, do a Google search for Mr. Gable and click on the first search that comes up or go to the Cheldelin web site and go to 6th grade teachers.  What can you find on the web site:

2.     Dress down clothes are:

·       Different shirt and shorts than what you wore to school
OPTIONAL – Socks and Shoes

·        Jewelry should not be worn

 

3.     Participation Rule

 

·       If you can NOT participate bring a note from home – Library Assignment

·       Note but can participate – stay in class and modify your activity

·       No note but not feeling well – stay in class and modify your activity

 

4.    Gum – Not allowed at all in PE or school

 

5.     Class Rules and Consequences

·      Citizenship = Behavior = warning, point off, SSR

·      Academics (letter grade) = Participation in Fitness, Participation in Games and Knowledge = grade awarded (A, B, C, D, F)

·      (Grades can be found on the school Pinnacle system)

 

6.     Second Step – usually twice a month on Wednesdays – bring binder, room 33

7.     A study guide is provided for most units and ALL test that are given in this class.  If you are not able to get to a computer, come and see me during my morning break in my PE office for a hard copy.

 

8.     Extra credit is available for each quarter located on the Main Menu

The BIG Question

 

What steps do you go through for Bullying and Harassment?

     Recognize                          1.  How does it make you feel?

                                               2.  Is it fair?

                                                3.  Does it keep happening?

     Refuse                                   4.  Is it Safe?

                                               5.  Check feelings

                                               6.  Get cool and calm

                                               7.  Be assertive not aggressive

                                               8.  Say:

                                               9.   "Stop, I don’t like that"  (and walk away)

                                              10.  "Stop it or I’ll tell the teacher"  (and walk away)

(They bully again)

    Report                             11.  Tell an adult / teacher

Conflict Resolution

You first need to MANAGE YOUR EMOTIONS before starting the ABC's

  1. =  Assess the Problem  /  Restate the problem fairly
  2. =  Brainstorm ideas
  3. =  Consider the consequences
  4. =  Decide and act
  5. =  Evaluate how it went

  1. Stay or Get Cool and Calm
  1. Use Assertive Behaviors
  1. Walk Away Calmly After you have Spoken Out

V.

Working It Out

  1. Respectfully ask what is wrong
  2. Listen carefully and think about your friend's point of view
  3. Figure out what to do to make it better
  4. Ask yourself, "Is it working?"  If it's not working, try something else.
  5. Apologize
