College Now is a program that allows high school students the opportunity to earn college credit as a result of taking approved college-level courses at Crescent Valley High School. By participating in College Now  program, students get a head start on tackling college-level work, earn low-cost college credits, and may gain knowledge helpful to their college career and decisions.  Courses taught at CVHS that are approved for College Now  credit must be taught by faculty who have been approved to teach college-level courses.

When a student earns College Now credits, those credits are posted to an LBCC transcript.  College Now  credits are transferrable to all state universities in Oregon (OUS System),  as well as to many in-state and out-of-state private schools, and many out-of-state public institutions.

Each student is responsible for sending the LBCC transcript to colleges they apply to, as well as sending a final transcript after graduation so that LBCC  College Now  credits can be reviewed and applied to the institution of higher education that they plan to attend. Transcript request forms are available at http://sis.linnbenton.edu .

HOW IT WORKS:

1.    When a student takes their first high school course that is eligible for College Now credit, they need

to complete the College Now Participation Form, and attach the one-time $25 processing fee (cash or
check payable to “LBCC”).  This completed and signed form, with payment, can be given to either the
teacher or turned in to the Career Center.

2.   The College Now  Participation Form is completed ONLY ONCE and the $25 fee is paid
ONLY ONCE, regardless of how many College Now  eligible courses are taken during high school.
Students can earn from four to over 30 college-level credits, all for only $25, depending on the
number of eligible classes taken during high school.

3.  When LBCC receives the completed and signed Participation Form with payment, aCollege Now account
is set up at LBCC and an LBCC student ID# is assigned to the student.  Some students may may already
have an LBCC student ID# from previously taking a class such as driver’s ed, in which case that ID#
will be used. LBCC will mail the student’s ID# to the home address once the
College Now account is
set up.

4.   CVHS staff who teach a College Now eligible course will explain the College Now program at the
beginning of the term. Students will be asked to sign-up on the teacher’s
College Now Class Roster
if they want to earn
College Now credit.  It is the student’s responsibility to make sure his name is
on the class roster for every
College Now eligible course taken.

5.   At the end of the course, the teacher submits grades to LBCC for all students who signed up on the
College Now  Class Roster AND who earned an A or B in the course. Some courses have additional requirements.

6. Students can access their LBCC transcripts (record of completed coursework) at
http://sis.linnbenton.edu and should do this periodically to verify that all College Credits earned
have been posted to their LBCC transcript.
