Vision

Students will utilize technology as they work toward achieving our district outcomes. Teachers will utilize technology as they work to improve student learning and develop their own professional knowledge and skills. Although all of these outcomes can be achieved without the use of sophisticated technology, we see teachers and students using technology to broaden, deepen, and accelerate student learning. In addition, technology will diversify the pathways by which students can pursue the outcomes. It is clear that technology will play a significant role in helping students as they work toward their CIM, CAM, and graduation.

Committee Members and Process

The Wilson Technology Committee created the vision that appears above. During our work, we conducted several surveys of our staff members to determine what our teachers believed they would make good use of and what would be most helpful to our students. Following discussions by the committee as a whole, Patti White, Doris Mimnaugh, and Jim Schweigert met for half a day and developed the building plan that follows. In this plan, we have documented the alignment of the types of technological items we plan to purchase with three district documents: first, the Student Outcomes and Performance Statements; second, the Teacher Performance Standards; and third, the Technology Tools and Tool Use Schedule Standards and Benchmarks. What we are asserting is that the equipment and software that we purchase will enhance our students' abilities to make progress on the outcomes and will support our teachers as they work on their professional development. Members of the Technology Committee presented this plan to the Wilson School Council. The council endorsed the plan.
