Parent Teacher Association
The Wilson PTA serves Wilson School by organizing and funding many school functions and programs. These include: Artist-in-Residence program (such as tie-dye shirts, Majestic drama classes, clay, and paper-mache puppets), special school assemblies, the Volunteer Center, Craft Night, the Sock Hop, Back-to-School Picnic, Field Day, Variety Night, Family Literacy Night, Turn-Off TV Week, Kindergarten Social, Staff Appreciation, and a Carnival if we can find a coordinator this year. Programs, supplies, and activities that we fund (but don't organize) include the Art and Science Fair, the Wildcat Trail, the Summer Reading Program, Safety Patrol Appreciation, Time Magazine for Kids, library books, school supplies for students-in-need, bus transportation for field trips, a BTA (Bicycle Transportation Alliance) bike safety program for 5th graders, and Wildcat copying/printing. We also supplement the school's budget by providing funds for classroom technology, classroom supplies, teacher conferences, and special Teacher Requests. Fundraising activities to support these programs include the annual Fun Run, Wilson Dine Outs, and the Scrip Program.
Participating in the PTA is a wonderful way to stay connected with the school and its staff, help decide how funds are spent, and be a part of many of the fun events during the year. PTA meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm in the Wilson library. Everyone is welcome to come and see what the PTA is up to. You do not have to be a member to attend meetings; however you do need to be a member to vote. Childcare is available during meetings upon request.
Please consider membership in the PTA. It only costs $9.50 a year, and being a member allows you help shape our priorites for Wilson with your input and vote. Join online at OregonPTA.org, or print a PTA Membership form and return it to PTA box in the office. (copies also availabie in the office) Scholarships are available to those who ask.
