Volunteering
Wilson Elementary loves its volunteers and invites you to become one! There are many ways to volunteer at Wilson -- in the classroom, in the Volunteer Center, on field trips, for the lunch-time running program at Wildcat Trail, and at special events (such as the Art and Science Fair, Fun Run, Field Day, Artist in Residence projects, Discovery Nights, and school musicals). If your schedule prevents you from volunteering during school hours, the Volunteer Center can pair you with some at home jobs. In addition to working in the classroom or the Volunteer Center, volunteer opportunities abound with the PTA.
Volunteering in the school is a great way to get to know staff as well as other parents. It is truly a part of the community experience. Your volunteer time will be greatly appreciated by Wilson staff, parents, PTA and, most importantly, your child(ren).

How Do I Become a Wilson Volunteer?
- Contact the Wilson Volunteer Coordinator. If you'd like to volunteer at school events or activities, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Alexis McQuillan at alexismcquillan@hotmail.com, or fill out the Wilson Volunteer Form and return it to the office.
- Attend a volunteer training session. At Wilson, we ask that all volunteers complete a short training before working in the classroom or other school areas. (Volunteers need only attend the training session once.) There are several volunteer trainings held in September and then periodically through-out the school year. The trainings are a great way to get to know the geography of the school, the resources available as well as volunteer expectations. Classroom volunteering will begin in early October. Please check the website calendar, or contact the office, for volunteer training dates.
- Fill out a criminal background check. The school district requires all volunteers to complete an
application and criminal history form every year.
Completed forms can be returned to the Wilson office.
Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless. ~Sherry Anderson
